Hi, I'm an Oxymoron.

Nerd. (nûrd)
A term that refers to a person who avidly pursues intellectual activities,  technical or specific endeavors, esoteric knowledge, or other obscure interests, rather than engaging in more social or conventional activities.
A nerd may be awkward, shy, and unattractive.

Awkward, more often than not.
Shy, I prefer to speak when necessary.
Unattractive, I’ll let you be the judge of that;)

In any case, I am a self-proclaimed nerd. I would have to say majority of my interests and hobbies go way beyond the norms of typical 20-something-year-old girl.

So what exactly make me a nerd?
I have a crazy OBSESSION with Disney.
I think I have an even crazier obsession with Disney Imagineering.
Yes, Imagineering is a common word in my daily vocabulary.
I love designing websites.
I look at the source code every time I leave a webpage.
I prefer 80’s music and a cappella to the radio.
I like to read my Bible.
I have a collection of stuffed penguins and Mickey Mouses above my bed.
I’d choose a war movie over chick flick any day.
Or a documentary.
Accounting + Chemistry= LOVE. Remind me again why I’m a fashion major?
Stay In or Go Out? Stay IN!
I love my friends and family. But I am a TOTAL introvert.

En Vogue. (vg)
In the current fashion or style; fashionable

Yes, I’m talking about FASHION. My mom started letting me pick out my own clothes in preschool after throwing a tantrum about the “grossness” of denim—and it’s been love ever since. Back then my style consisted of The Children’s Place, as I moved a long I graduated to the Limited Too. Then of course the Hollister/American Eagle phase hit. In high school, I decided to experiment a little. While everyone was wearing Uggs, I opted for suede boots. While other girls went after the bomber winter jacket, I came home with a white wool trench coat.

Today I try to keep my style classic, but fashion forward. My not so big secret is department stores like Macy’s, Bloomingdales, Nordstrom. There are so many options and unique finds awaiting. It's quite unlikely to sit next to someone wearing the same sweater as you.

I am also a loyal Banana Republic girl. I’d advocate for that brand any day. This may have to do with the fact that it was my first job, an only job thus far.

Really though, I feel like God guided me in this direction, even though a lot of people have doubted my “shallow” endeavor. True, a career in fashion will not save the world, cure fatal diseases, nor solve the problem of world hunger. But for some reason, at least right now, I know this is what I should be pursuing.
To me, fashion is a form of art. It’s a form of communication and expression of your personality, ideas, and feelings. People often ask me if I approve of their clothing and accessory choices. My question? Do you feel comfortable in it? Does it represent YOU today? If your answer is 'yes', then it's perfect!

So, where is this blog going…I’m think a little nerdy and a bit trendy. A tad intellectual with a little pop culture. Humorous but classy. I’m a bit of an oxymoron what can I say? But that’s what will keep this interesting…

I hope:)

What direction would you all like to see this go?
